From April 16th to April 24th, 2016, it’s National Park Week! The National Park Service is encouraging everyone to explore their favorite National Park; and, to do so, Park admission is free.
My favorite National Park is Yellowstone. Fortunately, I live in Bozeman, Montana; and, the West Yellowstone entrance to Yellowstone National Park is only an hour and a half drive away.
Mid-April may seem like it is too early to visit The Park; but, actually, it is the perfect time to see the geyser fields as well as some of the wildlife. The crowds are usually pretty small; and, in some instances, you may find yourself all alone on one of the boardwalks witnessing a geyser erupt.
Long lines of cars (common in the summertime) are rare in the spring, unless there is a traffic jam caused by buffalo slowly moving back into The Park via roads, such as the Madison River road. Keep an eye out on the road to Madison Junction too…Some elk may be spotted on the banks of the river, as well.
Feel free to visit the Montana Treasures Pinterest boards. The Yellowstone National Park board, for instance, has been routinely updated with videos and photos of The Park, many of which have been taken this spring. If you can’t make it into Yellowstone, right now, then, perhaps, you can use the photos and videos to make your own Yellowstone National Park bucket list of things to do and see, when you do arrive.
